Gold, Silver & Jewelry: Luxury and Covetousness at Château de Versailles (6 June 2026)
On 6 June 2026, our members had the distinct privilege of attending an intimate VIP Salon and Private Cocktail Reception at Gentry Club
Central, celebrating a landmark two-year exclusive research collaboration between the K11 Craft & Guild Foundation (KCG) and the Versailles Palace Research Centre (CRCV).
Luxury and Covetousness at Château de Versailles
The afternoon featured a captivating presentation by M. Mathieu Da Vinha, Director of the CRCV, who shared his latest
historical discoveries on “Gold, Silver & Jewelry: Luxury and Covetousness at Château de Versailles.” As a patron of the
Versailles PROSOCOUR historical database, KCG has sponsored this pioneering, in-depth academic project. M. Da Vinha illuminated the lives
and socio-professional trajectories of the master artisans who served the French Crown under Louis XIV, drawing brilliant historical
parallels with their imperial Chinese counterparts.

A Shared Passion for Exceptional Craftsmanship
The presentation sparked an enriching cross-disciplinary exchange, beautifully embodying LLDPHK’s core mission of fostering Sino-French cultural ties, luxury craftsmanship, and heritage preservation. Following the lecture, members enjoyed a private cocktail reception, continuing the vibrant dialogue on the historic intersection of French and Chinese savoir-faire.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr Adrian Cheng, Ms Krizia Li, and the entire KCG team for extending this exclusive invitation to our Chapter.
