Fostering Global Heritage: Louvre President Christophe Leribault to Hong Kong (Sep 2026)

On the occasion of the Hong Kong visit of Mr Christophe Leribault, President-Director of the Louvre Museum, leadership and representatives from the Les Lumières de Paris Hong Kong Chapter (LLDPHK) participated in a series of high-level exchanges celebrating Sino-French artistic patronage and institutional collaboration.

An Exclusive Dinner at the Residence of France

On 10 September 2026, our President for Greater China Dr Daniel Chan, Honorary Advisor Dr Andrew Yuen and Programme Committee Member Mr Julien Loïc-Garin attended an intimate dinner at the Residence of France, hosted by the Acting Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, Mr Benjamin Hubin. The gathering provided a prestigious forum to welcome Mr Leribault during his trip to Hong Kong following his Renaissance exhibition opening in Tokyo, bringing together distinguished patrons to celebrate French culture.

The "Louvre Nouvelle Renaissance" Vision

During his visit, Mr Leribault presented the landmark Louvre Nouvelle Renaissance project—a major architectural and curation overhaul designed to transform the visitor experience, resolve historic bottlenecks, and create a dedicated gallery space for Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Highlighting that visitors from Asia represent a vital segment of the museum’s global audience, Mr Leribault underscored the significance of international philanthropy and cross-cultural sponsorship in supporting universal artistic sanctuary.

Sino-French Dialogue at the Hong Kong Palace Museum

Reinforcing our mission of bridging cultural heritage between East and West, our Vice-President Mrs Janice Choi and Programme Committee Member Mr Julien Loïc-Garin met with Mr Leribault during his visit to the Hong Kong Palace Museum. The visit fostered meaningful dialogue on museum innovation, curation, and the continuing exchange between major cultural institutions in Hong Kong and France.
